UPHOLSTERY REPAIR SERVICE

 

 

 Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) is requesting quotations from businesses interested in providing upholstery repair services on its bus seats, for its fleet of 76 coaches.

 

The deadline for submission of Quotes is 1:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time (PDT) on Thursday, May 15, 2008.  It is the supplier’s responsibility to ensure Quotes are submitted no later than the date/time specified.  Quotations received after that date will not be considered.  Quotations may be sent via FAX to (831) 899-3954, e-mailed to samorim@mst.org or mailed to the following address:

Quotations shall remain in effect for thirty days (30) from the submission date deadline.  MST reserves the right to reject any and all quotations.

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

MST needs repairs to seat-covers, which are damaged from vandalism or worn from age.  A vendor is being solicited to pick up, repair, and return seat covers. MST will provide all fabric and vinyl for upholstery repairs.  The seat covers will be removed by MST and placed in a designated area for contractor pick-up.  When repairs are completed and returned, the contractor will place the seat covers in MST’s designated storage area.  MST will reinstall seat covers.

 

            Approximately 300 repairs are made on seats per year.  This includes 200 fabric repairs and 100 vinyl repairs.

 

If desired, appointments may by scheduled with MST to inspect coach seat-covers to be repaired.  This will provide interested contractors an opportunity to ask questions and obtain additional information regarding this request for quotation.  To schedule an appointment, contact Sandra Amorim at (831) 393-8127.

 

 

SCOPE OF WORK

 

  1. The contractor shall pick-up damaged seat covers and deliver repaired seat-covers at a minimum of once a week at both MST locations: One Ryan Ranch Road, Monterey; and 443 Victor Way, Salinas.  Contractor may also make repairs on-site, if they operate a mobile repair vehicle.  MST will not provide space or equipment for repairs.

 

2.         MST will provide a form for the contractor to complete at the time of pick-up, which states the quantity of damaged seat-covers being picked up.  This form will be reconciled against invoices.

 

3.         MST will provide all fabric and vinyl needed for repairs.  Contractor will provide all other materials, including heavy-duty metal zippers and snaps.

 

4.         The contractor must notify MST when stock of material furnished by MST reaches a reorder level.

 

5.         Additional work authorized, outside this Scope of Work is occasionally request by MST and shall be at a price agreed to by both parties before any additional work is done.

 

6.         On occasion, the contractor may be requested to pick up and make repairs outside the regularly scheduled weekly pickup, and return the item(s) within a twenty-four hour, or less, period.  Any additional cost for this service must be included on the quotation form.

 

 

REQUIRED INFORMATION

 

The following information must accompany the quotation:

 

1.         Number of years firm has been in the upholstery repair business.

 

2.         Whether or not the firm is registered with the State of California as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Minority Owned Business (MBE) or as a Women-owned Business (WBE).

 

3.         Listing of name, address and telephone number and point of contact, of at least three customers your firm has provided upholstery repair services to similar in nature to that being requested by MST.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF CONTRACT

 

In selecting a contractor, MST will consider the following factors:

 

1.         Quality of work

 

2.         References checks

 

3.         DBE/MBE/WBE qualifications

 

4.         Price

 

            The successful vendor will be required to submit copies of the following no later then two weeks after contract award:

 

1.         Automobile Liability Insurance

 

2.         General Liability Insurance
