The MST Board adopted
Resolution 2005-18 recognizing Kitty Melicia, Operations Assistant, as MST
Employee of the Month for February 2005 for her role in an extensive recertification
of registered RIDES clients.
Robert Pagan, Coach Operator
and Samuel Fernandez, Master Mechanic were recognized with a 25-Year Service
Award. Anthony Lewis, Coach Operator was recognized with a 20-Year Service
Award.
Congressman Sam Farr
provided an update on congressional reauthorization of transportation funding.
Congressman Farr is supporting MST’s request for $5.6 million to complete the
pay off of newly purchased buses. He is also supportive of MST’s request for
Job Access Reverse Commute funds. Mr. Farr then discussed the importance of
signage guidelines along the Highway 1 scenic corridor.
The Board discussed the
purchase of Environmental Liability Insurance for MST properties on the former
Fort Ord through the Fort Ord Reuse Authority’s basewide policy. FORA requires that insurance for damages
resulting from unexploded ordinance or pollution be in place before a jurisdiction
can begin development on their former Fort Ord property. FORA has stated that
the absence of this specialized environmental insurance will not delay any
transfer of FORA property to MST. However, FORA will not permit any development
of MST property on former Fort Ord until similar insurance is in place. There
was a discussion about the differences between FORA and Driver Alliant
insurance policies.
The Board accepted the
basewide environmental insurance coverage offered to MST by FORA. The Board
also authorized the MST General Manager/CEO to sign the Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) between TAMC and FORA regarding payment of MST portion of basewide
environmental insurance coverage and acceptance of insurance terms and
conditions.
The MST Board of Directors
held their election of officers and elected Director Fernando Armenta as Chair
and Director Tom Mancini as Vice-Chair. Other staff appointments remain the
same.
