The MST Board adopted
Resolution 2005-19 recognizing Michelle Di Pretoro, Senior Maintenance Clerk,
as MST Employee of the Month for March 2005 for her assistance in organizing
workloads and cross-training in advanced parts clerks’ procedures such as daily
cycle inventory count data input.
The MST Board awarded a
contract in the amount not to exceed $122,809 to Pacific Municipal Consultants
for environmental consulting service for the Marina Transit Station. The
contract award is subject to the Marina City Council giving favorable
endorsement for the Marina Transit Station Ad Hoc Committee’s
near-term/long-term development location strategy.
As a new construction
project, the Marina Transit Station will undergo an environmental evaluation as
required by federal and state environmental regulations as well as by City of
Marina local development procedures.
The MST Board directed to
staff to proceed with filing the necessary applications with the City of Marina
for the Marina Transit Station. MST staff was also directed to proceed with
development of a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Marina and TAMC
supporting the eventual consolidation of transit facilities as part of the TAMC
Intermodal station near the intersection of Del Monte & Reservation.
MST and the City of Marina
have reviewed a two-part approach using the current site short-term and the
TAMC intermodal site (Del Monte & Reservation) long-term.
The MST Board will appoint
and Ad Hoc committee to meet with the Sand City council members to attempt to
resolve the difference in terms for the agreement for the provision of transit
service within Sand City and ongoing maintenance of bus stop amenities.
MST reached an agreement at
the staff level that Sand City would pay $25,000 per year and half the $14,000
cost to repaint the existing shelters. MST would assume ownership and ongoing
maintenance of the shelters and continue to serve Sand City with both fixed-bus
and MST RIDES service. The City Council of Sand City directed their staff to
offer MST $10,000 per year plus their annual LTF, which is currently $8,025.
The MST Board directed MST
staff to begin negotiations with the City of Monterey to assume operations and
maintenance of the CARS station.
MST is the largest user of
CNG fuel from this station, with CNG piped to MST’s yard to fuel 17 buses, plus
7 dual-fuel non-revenue vehicles. The City of Monterey notified MST that
effective July 1, 2005 they plan to stop maintenance of the CARS station based
on the demands of their own fleet maintenance programs and the discontinued use
of CNG fueled vehicles.
