Portions of HWY 101 in the North Salinas/Prunedale area have proven too dangerous a location for bus stops. Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) regretfully will be discontinuing twelve stops along Line 29 Watsonville/Salinas effective Friday, November 23, 2007 for safety reasons. Factors leading to the decision include the recent increased speed limit to 60 MPH along the corridor, and passengers crossing the highway to catch the bus. After conducting a safety review, Monterey-Salinas Transit has concluded the stops to be unsafe for passengers. MST regrets having to discontinue service to these areas.

Stops to be discontinued include the following, along Highway 101 in the north and southbound lanes:

Line 29 Watsonville:

• White Road
• Ralph Lane
• Reese Circle
• Pesante Road
• Berta Canyon Road

Line 29 Salinas:

• Prunedale South Road
• Pesante Road
• Blackie Road
• Ralph Lane
• White Road
• Village Mobile Park

The nearest MST bus stops along Line 29 Watsonville to the north is PruneTree Center and to the south is Main Street at Boronda Road. The nearest MST bus stops along Line 29 Salinas to the north is Prunedale Park and Ride, at Meridian Spur, and to the south is Bank of America on North Main Street.
