MST Service Changes Go Into Effect July 2, 2007

Service changes for local bus transportation provided by Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will go into effect Monday, July 2, 2007.

Due to prolonged construction along Cannery Row and the resulting congestion in that area, the portion of Line 24 Carmel Valley-Grapevine Express serving Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium will be temporarily suspended. The remainder of Line 24 will operate on its current schedule. In addition, the new Line 7 Monterey-Carmel vial CHOMP has been added to the system.

The following lines will be changed or modified:

Line 24 Carmel Valley-Grapevine Express: Service to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is temporarily suspended. Use the Trolley to go to the Monterey Conference Center or the Monterey Transit Plaza to catch Line 24 Carmel Valley-Grapevine Express. Several MST routes serve the Monterey Transit Plaza and passengers can transfer to and from Line 24.

MST’s Line 24- Grapevine Express provides daily service from downtown Monterey along Carmel Valley’s wine corridor and on to Carmel Valley Village , with stops conveniently located to shopping, restaurants, wineries and other entertainment venues. Customers should look for the familiar Grapevine Express logo signs for boarding locations.

New Line 7 Monterey-Carmel via CHOMP : Service between the Monterey Conference Center, Monterey Transit Plaza, Del Monte Center, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP), and downtown Carmel will operate hourly on weekdays from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Line 7 leaves the Monterey Conference Center approximately 55 minutes after the hour and the Monterey Transit Plaza on the hour. Line 7 departs Carmel at approximately 22 minutes after the hour from 6 th and Mission. Line 7 will operate using MST’s 17-passenger vans and will serve CHOMP at a new stop located closer to the front door of the hospital for increased customer convenience. Line 7 has been made possible through a public-private partnership with CHOMP, which has provided seed money to help with start up costs of the new service.

Line 5 Monterey-Carmel : With the implementation of the new Line 7- Monterey-Carmel via CHOMP, Line 5 will no longer serve the Monterey Conference Center.

These changes will take effect Monday, July 2, 2007. For further information, visit MST Online at www.mst.org or call MST toll free at 1-888-MST-BUS1.
