Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will offer a free ride to anyone wearing a First Night Monterey New Year’s Eve celebration button starting at 2:00 p.m. December 31, 2006 until the service ends at approximately 1:15 a.m. January 1, 2007.

MST Line 4 will provide free supplemental service between Del Monte Center and the Monterey Transit Plaza in downtown Monterey every 3 to 6 minutes – between 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

On New Year’s Eve, MST will operate on a Sunday schedule. After normal operating times have expired at approximately 7:00 p.m., MST will provide additional service as follows:

On Line 1 Asilomar, service will be provided hourly from 7:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. from Asilomar and Lighthouse at Fountain to Monterey Transit Plaza. Additional service between Monterey Transit Plaza and Lighthouse at Fountain will be every 30 minutes from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Service to Carmel and Carmel Rancho via Line 4 Carmel Rancho will be provided from Monterey Transit Plaza hourly from 7:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. An additional trip from Monterey Transit Plaza to Carmel and Carmel Rancho will be provided at 12:45 a.m.

Line 9 Fremont-Hilby will operate hourly from 7:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. There will be an additional trip at 12:30 a.m. to Seaside from Monterey Transit Plaza.

Service to Seaside via Line 10 Fremont- Ord Grove will be provided hourly from Monterey Transit Plaza from 7:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m.

Hourly service will be provided between Monterey Transit Plaza and Salinas Transit Center via Line 20 Salinas-Monterey from 7:15 p.m. through 11:15 p.m. After midnight, First Night participants can take MST buses to Line 20 destinations in Seaside, Marina and Salinas. Service to CSUMB Quad and Northridge Mall will be provided only upon passenger request. Trips depart Monterey Transit Plaza at 12:15, 12:30 12:45 and 1:15 p.m.

Line 41 East Alisal-Northridge will run hourly service from Salinas Transit Center from 7:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m.

For the safety and convenience of our passengers, all MST bus services will be free to all after midnight. All regularly scheduled and supplemental service is intended for use by First Night attendees as well as the general public.
