MST Holds Ribbon-cutting Ceremony
for the New Marina Transit Exchange

On Friday, September 21, 2007, Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to introduce the new Marina Transit Exchange to the public. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in front of the customer service building along De Forest Road just south of Reservation Road. Scheduled to attend the ceremony are Congressman Sam Farr, State Assembly Member John Laird, MST Board Chairman and County Supervisor Fernando Armenta, and Marina Mayor Ila Mettee-McCutchon. Light refreshments will be served.

The Marina Transit Exchange is a $5 million project funded by the California Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Agency and Local Transportation Funds. This new state-of-the-art facility features eight bus gates, real-time electronic bus arrival and departure signage, as well as a customer service window where passengers can purchase passes and obtain information about MST services.

At the ceremony, MST will also be marking another important milestone – the 35 th Anniversary of the formation of the Monterey Peninsula Transit Joint Powers Authority – the precursor organization to Monterey-Salinas Transit. The public is invited to come to the ribbon-cutting event to join MST in celebrating this important day. The Marina Transit Exchange will be open for bus operations and customers beginning Monday, October 1st.
